The sun started peeping over the magnificent Black Hills and its beautiful orange and pink rays filled Mayor Whipple’s office with a cheerful glow. She lifted her head, rubbed her eyes and looked at the clock. It was already morning! With all that was happening in the town, she had been staying late at work trying to figure out how to bring all the townspeople harmoniously together, but as yet had had no success. She decided to dash home for a quick shower, before her meeting with the townspeople scheduled for later that day.
Taking the shortcut home from the office, she ran by the abandoned Toothpaste Factory and noticed a light on in the first floor. The factory had been empty for years, so Mayor Whipple decided she ought to check it out. She pulled out the Nerf gun from her purse (her weapon of choice during these uncertain times) and opened the door. There, in a huge vat used for mixing paste, was Eric, or what was left of him. The mafia has submerged him in water up to his neck, poured sulfuric acid into the water and watched while it slowly ate away at his flesh. Only Eric’s head was recognizable. It appears the South Dakota Mafia left behind their two most gruesome members.
Disgusted by the latest display of torture, Mayor Whipple left the scene, saddened and nauseous. With help from the undercover detective and doctor, she hoped the town would execute one of the right people today. While she didn’t necessarily believe in townspeople murdering their own, after seeing Eric’s glazed-over eyes, she knew that something must be done.
It is now DAY for the next 48 hours (until 10am Central Time on Friday). Everyone, using the comments on this blog, must discuss and vote for whom the town would like to execute. We need a majority to carry out the execution. Since there are nine left, we will need at least five votes for the same person to carry out the execution. Eric, as you are now dead, you may not post. Good luck townspeople!

I guess I will start, it's hard at the beginning to know who mafia could be, but I'm going to throw Will's name out there. He's way too excited about this game, and I think it's because he wants to kill some people.
I work with Will. And I've gotta say he's ALWAYS excited about the idea of killing people. Now, I thought it was just a work thing, and given some of the people we work with, quite understandable. But if the murderous inclinations are spilling over into non-work life. Is this a new thing?
I'm at a bit of a disadvantage, not knowing anyone else here. I'll have to wait before forming any conclusions. I'll be back later to check in.
By the way, thanks for letting me play. It has always been a dream of mine to live in an exotic place like South Dakota where people are paranoid, accusatory and murder is a frequent occurence. Bless you for helping to fulfill that dream!
Of course Jason would throw my name out there because one of the members of the mafia would be the first to post and put the blame on someone else. But then again if Jason was the mafia I believe I would be the first to go. And I don't see Eric as a threat. He's a good guy.

I have solved the puzzle...Jason and Stacy are the mafia. Jason would want to kill me, but since I'm the only one that Stacy knows she would not let me die the first round because then she wouldn't know what to do. Eric I went to your funeral today and I didn't see Jason or Stacy there. They probably home plotting their next murder. Pray for me, I believe I will be the next victim from the mafia. That is if the cunning and corrupt words of the mafia don't persuade you.
Just a thought... my guess would be one of the brothers. Who else would want to kill off the boyfriend right away?
I agree with Caitlyn on this one, even though it's kinda putting me out there. That's why I originally threw Willy's name out there, although I have no basis for that. I also wanted to say I think Jana's a good story-teller.

If these Mafia freaks were smart they would kill someone that others wouldn't think they would kill as to disguise their murderous ways.
I am thinking Troy or Stacey. Planning the murder of the boyfriend of my sis would be the perfect plan. This would then put all blame towards the brothers thinking they would want to kill the man trying to get into family...

Okay, I'm pretty sure it's not Troy, because Jana wouldn't say, but I don't think he's even responded back from email. This is really tough to determine who mafia is this early in the game. I think some who were mafia however probably would comment less, to avoid too much attention. So I think we should also look at those who don't comment much. I've got a couple of people I have my suspicions about, but want to hear what everyone has to say before I make an official vote for a lynching.
I Think that we should all think seriously as to what we have just done, we have obviously killed an innocent townie. I'm considering that we should go for Jacob for the next round ---He just seems like the type that would be the head macho leader of the group :) Let me know what you guys think???

As to the accusations about Jason knowing things the rest of you don't know, that is FALSE. About halfway into the NIGHT (when there was still plenty of more time for responses to be submitted), when I asked everyone to comment and say HI (which I admit now was a stupid idea) I told him that several people had not responded, one of them being Troy. This does not mean Troy has not NOW responded. As far as you townspeople know, Lisa and Danny haven't commented on here either, but that doesn't mean they haven't sent anything to ME. Jason doesn't have any more intel than the rest of you. I now refuse to answer any of his questions, and am learning to put on a great "poker face."

Okay everyone I think I have posted alot because I'm really excited about this game and have been watching for comments by the minute. William, William. I did NOT agree, per se, to anyone's accusation against you. In fact, I waited until tonight so I could get a better idea of who is whom before casting aspersions on anyone. PLUS, I just spent a harrowing evening out on the freeway trying to get back to my house. Seriously, they wouldn't let anyone down SR92. We just barely got home and tomorrow have to go dig Hubs' car out of the snow. So when, Will, WHEN would I have had time? And last night, as you know Will because I spent quite some time complaining about it today, I spent my entire evening last night trying to figure out how to pass 7th grade algebra.

We don't break any of the rules, but I do get to see his reaction to reading all of your postings (I'm not going to leave the living room because he's on the blog, as he was on it for literally hours yesterday, and our computer is also currently our TV). In my professional wifely opinion, he'd be much more gleeful if he were able to murder someone every night. I don't think it's him. Just a thought...why haven't Jason or Jacob said anything about each other? Kinda strange. I know all us brothers are all pretty competitive and the so the fact that Jason or Jakey boy decided to vote for the same person and not accuse each other in any way, it kinda gets ya thinkin. Or maybe they're just not a very good mafia. If I was mafia and my name was say I don't know Jason for instance and my mafia partner was Jacob then I'd say something about Jacob to make it look like we weren't on the same side. Goodbye everyone. It's been a fun 3 days of this game.
Okay, look. I haven't been around much because circumstances of the last few days haven't allowed for it. Digging out a car, tracking down Will's abilities to get his hands on sulfuric acid (turns out he's much more likely to use hydrofluoric acid than sulfuric acid. Or hydrogen peroxide!) Plus, Will was way too worried he'd get killed off the first day. So I'm thinking Will is innocent. (Plus, he was accusing me of being mafia BEFORE WE EVEN KNEW OUR ROLES!)
That said, Will thinks Jason is Mafia, and since he's off base about me, his reasoning could be wrong about Jason. Since I don't know anyone well but Will and am unfamiliar with anyone else, I'm just guessing here. I've had to wait for everyone else to start making accusations so I can see how trusts whom within their own family.
BUT I do think that it's a little strange that those who DO know the others, (Lisa and Troy) haven't had a lot to say.
SO unless they too are out digging themselves out of the snow...

I just have to say Dan you keep changing your mind. I'm not accusing you, but it doesn't look to good when every other post is voting for someone different.

Willy, you didn't respond from my last post--about Caitlyn, what do you think about her being mafia? Now is the time Will. We need to stop the bloodshed. Everyone is way to wishy-washy on their decisions. This is what I think: Caitlyn, Dan, or Gem. You tell me what you think Will--I think I may have been wrong about Jake, but we need to all come to a decision and vote someone off.
But yeah, back on to Caitlyn, I really am thinking strongly it may be her.
Jason in response to your questions...I'm not sure who is in the mafia. It could very well be Stacey or Caitlyn, however for now I'm almost positive it's Jacob and since you can only lynch one person per day that's my vote for now. I guess we'll see who the mafia kills off and go from there, I'm pretty sure Jason since we've kinda been the center of attention. I'm pretty sure it'll be one of us biting the dust next. All I hope is whomever this doctor is makes the right decision on who to save.
Hey! I defend Will because I'd rather have him playing this than Halo or Playstation. When he plays playstation I can't watch TV and I end up missing something important, like House.
If I were the mafia, I would lay low. I wouldn't put myself out there to defend someone else, even if he is my husband. I would call as little attention to myself as possible. Plus, I would have killed Will the first night. He's way too good at figuring things out. If I were mafia, he would have guessed by now. He's much better at games than I am.

well I've got to admit some of you sure type alot! Unlike some of those more educated types I went to Jerome High School and can't type, nor read for that matter, very fast. So if you would use smaller words this government employee would be able to keep up.
If you've ever heard of the theif syndrome you'll understand why at least one of the people are already practically screaming that they are the mafia. The syndrome happens to be that when someone steals something they are always thinking that someone else will steal from them. In fact they become very acusatory and defensive. So far most of the current townies are pretty concerned but not necesarily making blatent acusations. Jake however does not fit this "townie" stereotype. He must have something in his past he is worried about... maybe something in his very recent past that he would like to keep buried...maybe something that involves our little concerned town. We may not know who both of them are but let us rest well assured that the one will lead us to the other....

By the way Stacey, I'm almost positive Troy has no idea what is going on. William just told us he talked to Troy and that he would play--so Jana sent him an email, but even though I have no proof I'm almost certain he has not even looked at the blog. So unless you're with Jake killing the innocent--join with our united band and let's torture Jake until he admits he is mafia. We don't have much longer--we have to make a decision and go with it.
Dan you're going back and forth, but everyone is going to say they're not mafia, this first round will just have to be trial and error, but I think Will is right...a lot of signs point to Jake...we'll figure it out from here.

We were busy up here with work and school. Aspen is finishing up her bachelors up here at Weber State...it's on the north side of this South Dakota Town, while I'm working here at the base. I feel like I've been living in Salto Ancora for a long time. With so many latinos walking around its hard not to feel like your on the border... with Nebraska that is. Anyways I'm sticking to my guns about this Jacob=Mafia thing. My only question is why can't we accuse the Mayor of dabbling in the Mafia business. She seems to know a little too much if ya know what I mean. Now working for who I do, I know that you never kill your source, but you protect them. So for now she's safe...but the people she seems to be indicting with her details seems to be a little too clear for not being involved herself. It's suspect. Real suspect.

I was there that night in the abandoned Toothpaste Factory. I was helping clean the building. I was hired as a temp worker. My employer was flexible with my hours. He just wanted the building cleaned up before it sold. I was there listing to my IPOD when I heard an intense lover spat coming down the hall. I removed my headset and moved closer trying to figure out what the comotion was all about. Then I saw her, Gemarie! I heard a splash and then agonizing screams of intense pain. I hovered in the shadows afraid for my life. I will never get those screams out of my head. I know she did it. She may have not pushed him in but there was a man next to her that I couldn't make out. Maybe a brother. Mafia, runs in the family. This is all I know. Please keep this information to yourself I would hate if it leaked and my baby was left without a mother.

Last night I was at the bar and I overheard GeMarie and Will laughing. They were discussing how funny they thought it was to watch Eric's body disintergrate in Sulfric Acid. How could they be so cruel. Maybe he wasn't a nice guy but no one deserves that. The mafia works in cunning ways.
